Looking Deeper Into Psoriasis and Nail Disease, an interactive activity, which is also available on CD-ROM, features a renowned faculty of dermatologists and a rheumatologist. They discuss new evidence on nail anatomy and provide new insights on nails as a potential link to both psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. This programme delivers an overview of psoriasis as a systemic inflammatory disease to underline the importance of screening patients for specific disease manifestations beyond the skin, such as entheseal abnormalities (ie, enthesitis) in asymptomatic psoriasis. Additionally, the strategic role of the dermatologist in detecting early signs of comorbid states such as arthritis in psoriasis patients will be highlighted. The latest evidence will be reviewed linking nails to the distal interphalangeal joint with the involvement of tendon enthesis and its consequences for inflammatory processes in this anatomical area. The faculty also discusses how to optimally manage patients with nail involvement with the goal of improving care and disease outcomes..
